Jakarta. Matahari Putra Prima, the retail giant which operates supermarket chain Hypermart, recently got a makeover, in an effort to spur business and enhance the shopping experience for its customers.

Hypermart prioritizes customer behaviors and comfort when transforming its layout. The makeover includes an improvement to the fresh produce area, as well as the health and beauty aisles, for a more comfortable shopping experience.

Matahari Putra Prima (MPPA) has gotten new sources of fruits and vegetables so that these products come even fresher when they arrive at the supermarkets. MPPA also introduced a myriad of traditional Nusantara products at its outlets.

The retailer has permanently slashed between 4,000 and 8,000 products. Last but not least is the better and more promotions for the shoppers.

MPPA has launched this makeover at seven outlets nationally, three of them in Jakarta. The rest are in Solo Square, Royal Plaza Surabaya, Pontianak, and Tanjung Pinang.

“You can see the changes in those outlets, and we will gradually revamp all other outlets across Indonesia,” MPPA chief executive officer Wim Maris was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.

MPPA’s makeover got a thumbs-up from the Indonesian Retailer Association (Aprindo).

“Aprindo is calling for all retailers to make all sorts of changes in this new era. Transformation is a must, including digitalization,” Aprindo chairman Roy Nicholas Mandey said.
