Jakarta. State construction firm PTPP took part in building the freshly inaugurated Leuwikeris dam in West Java.

PTPP is responsible for work on packages number 1, 6, and 7 worth around Rp 1.61 trillion. The packages absorbed approximately 590 workers.

The Leuwikeris Dam lies 135 kilometers away from Bandung city. It will supply water for DI Lakbok Utara in Ciamis which spans 6,600 hectares and the 4,616-hectare DI Manganti in Cilacap. The dam boasts a raw water reserve capacity of 845 liters/second. It can help reduce flooding and generate 2 x 10 MW of electricity. The dam also offers tourism, fisheries, and groundwater conservation. The Leuwikeris Dam also has a capacity of 81 million cubic meters and a pool area of 243 hectares.

According to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, the construction work for the Leuwikeris Dam began in 2016. The president revealed that the dam was also the most expensive out of its kind compared to the dams that he had inaugurated so far.

“Of the dams I have inaugurated so far, this dam costs the most, reaching Rp 3.5 trillion,” Jokowi said at the inauguration ceremony on Thursday.

Public Works Minister Basuki Hadimuljono even praised PTPP’s projects, including the Leuwikeris Dam.

Yul Ari Pramuhararjo, the director for infrastructure operations,  said that this dam fell under the national strategic project category.

"We have previously done national strategic dam projects, and President Jokowi also inaugurated them. They were the Lolak Dam, Tiu Suntuk Dam, and Tamblang Dam. Praise be to God, they are all high-quality. We also managed to finish the projects on time without any accidents,” Yul Ari said.

"I am very proud of the entire Leuwikeris Dam project team. This shows PTPP’s commitment to national infrastructure development," Yul Ari said.
