Jakarta. Claudia Kolonas, the Co-Founder of the WealthTech app Pluang, made it to JP Morgan Private Bank’s list of The Top Women Business Leaders in the Asia-Pacific region.

This Top 100 Asia Pacific Women-Powered, High-Growth Businesses list recognizes Claudia’s leadership in the fintech industry.

“Indonesia needs more women leaders in the tech sector. I hope to see more women in tech on this list,” Claudia said in a recent press statement.

“I believe technological innovations can bring long-term impact to the advancement of the financial sector. Pluang seeks to give people access to an affordable investment, while also expanding their investment asset options in order to open up more opportunities for Indonesians to reach financial freedom,” Claudia said.

JP Morgan compiles this list of women leaders based on the following components: revenue and employee size, total funding size since the company was founded, and investor and industry trust. The list also includes high-growth businesses powered by women in Asia-Pacific across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. 

According to this list, Indonesia is among the top five markets with the most funding. Women-powered businesses in Indonesia secured $1.4 billion in funding, surpassing South Korea ($1.3 billion) and Hong Kong ($1.2 billion). If women start successful growth-oriented businesses at the same pace as men, this can generate more than 74 million new jobs. 

The report also shows that only 5.7 percent of the nearly 15,000 high-growth, private businesses are founded, co-founded, or led by women. About 22 percent of those businesses are in the technology sector. The technology sector also represents 26 percent of the total funds raised by these businesses.

“The productivity of the businesses founded by women needs to be supported by a supportive ecosystem. It becomes a challenge for a woman in tech figure in the male-dominated startups,” Claudia said, adding that having a team with diverse backgrounds helps bring wide-ranged perspectives and innovations to the table at Pluang.
