Jakarta. Tanker crews from PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) are working around the clock to keep fuel supplies and humanitarian aid flowing to disaster-affected communities across Sumatra, as the region continues efforts to recover from recent natural disasters.

At the Integrated Terminal in Teluk Kabung, Padang, the MT Kasim has once again become a critical supply link. On Saturday, the vessel loaded 3,000 kiloliters of biodiesel, 1,400 KL of Pertamax, and 3,000 KL of Pertalite bound for Sibolga, North Sumatra.

“We expect this shipment to arrive on time to support communities trying to restore daily activities, from powering logistics vehicles to aiding recovery efforts. We are also transporting relief supplies on this vessel to maximize sea routes in delivering hope to those affected,” PIS Acting Corporate Secretary Vega Pita said on Monday.

The MT Kasim is also carrying humanitarian aid, transforming the fuel tanker into a “ship of hope” for families who have lost homes or access to essential goods.

Meanwhile, the MT Kamojang continues nonstop operations from Teluk Kabung to Meulaboh and Krueng, transporting 6,500 KL of B40 diesel, Pertalite, and Pertamax. The vessel has pushed through rough winds and heavy waves, underscoring the urgency of maintaining stable energy distribution during the crisis.

PIS has so far dispatched four waves of aid shipments to affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The relief operation is carried out in collaboration with entities under the Subholding Integrated Marine Logistics (SH IML), including PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental, PT Pertamina Energy Terminal, and PT Pertamina Port and Logistics. The latest maritime delivery complements earlier shipments sent by land, air, and sea.

Relief items include food, baby supplies, hygiene kits, mattresses, and blankets, all selected based on urgent needs in disaster zones. PIS also deployed SH IML volunteer teams to help oversee distribution efforts in West Sumatra.

“This entire process reflects PIS’s commitment, as part of the Pertamina Group, to stand at the forefront during emergencies,” Vega said. “We hope our efforts can ease the burden on affected families and support recovery in the days ahead.”

Through continuous operations, braving waves and adverse weather, PIS says it will ensure that fuel, relief supplies, and hope keep moving toward communities waiting at the tip of Sumatra.
