Jakarta. Celebrities and senior military officials were in attendance when President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo -- alongside Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto -- inaugurated the main building of the military academy in Magelang.

Retired military generals Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Agum Gumelar, AM Hendropriyono, and former Army Chief of Staff General Dudung Abdurachman were present. There was also a list of celebrities and social media influencers attending, such as Deddy Corbuzier, Raffi Ahmad, Nagita Slavina, Atta Halilintar, Ria Ricis, Lula Lahfah, Rachel Vennya, Salim Nauderer, Tara Budiman, Christian Bong, Celine Evangelista, and Aan Story, among others.

"The construction of this building will significantly boost the soldiers’ motivation to study even better because the educational facilities at the academy will become more complete, sophisticated, and modern," he said.

According to Prabowo, the 8,306 square meter-wide building is part of the grand goal of improving military education institutions. “Hopefully, [the facility] can play a major role in shaping the character, mentality, and intellect of the future armed forces and the leaders of this country,” Prabowo said.

“I do hope that this facility can also improve the young soldiers’ competitiveness on the global stage,” Prabowo said.

The first floor spans 3,328 square meters. The second floor is about 2,617 square meters, while the third floor reaches 2,617 square meters. The dining hall, which holds a capacity of 1,200 people, also gets renovated, according to the press release.
