Maher Zain and Harris J Thrill Thousands as Indonesia Tour Concludes in Surabaya
Surabaya. After captivating audiences in Jakarta and Makassar earlier this month, Maher Zain -- accompanied by Harris J -- delivered another unforgettable performance for fans in Surabaya on Sunday.
The concert, “BSI Maher Zain Live in Concert: Indonesia Tour 2025”, held at Surabaya Convention Center (SCC), marked the final stop of the 2025 Indonesia tour.
The evening opened at 19:20 with a set by young British singer Harris J, who performed fan favorites including “Salam Alaikum,” “Always Listening,” “O Allah,” and “I Promise.” One of the most emotional moments came when he sang “Aicha” and invited a young girl named Aisah onto the stage to sing with him -- drawing loud cheers and tears from the audience. Harris J wrapped up his performance with “Hayati.”
Moments later, the venue erupted as the screen displayed Maher Zain’s opening sequence, followed by the singer’s entrance wearing a traditional blangkon and performing “Assalamu Alayka.” The crowd -- dominated by female fans -- responded with overwhelming excitement.
The atmosphere grew even more electrifying as Maher performed his biggest hits. A highlight of the evening was the first-ever live duet performance of “Qalbi Fil Madinah” alongside Harris J on the same stage. Other beloved tracks such as “Barakallahu Lakuma,” “Insha Allah,” and “Medina” sent the venue into mass sing-along. Although the show paused briefly for a break, fans stayed energized and cheered relentlessly for Maher’s return.
The concert series was presented exclusively by Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) and co-promoted by Rajamice, Color Asia Live, and Media Internusa, covering three major cities: Jakarta (6 Nov.), Makassar (14 Nov.), and Surabaya (16 Nov.).
“Rajamice is committed to supporting high-quality concerts in Indonesia. Maher Zain is one of the world’s most influential Islamic pop musicians. His songs are deeply rooted in Indonesian Islamic culture, especially during Ramadan and religious celebrations. Supporting this three-city tour was simply a must for us,” said Panca R. Sarungu, Group CEO of Rajamice.
BSI, as the presenting partner, stressed the positive values behind the event.
“BSI’s support for this concert is part of our effort to strengthen the Islamic ecosystem in Indonesia. The halal entertainment and Muslim-friendly tourism sectors have immense potential. We want to make it easier for customers to enjoy a modern, high-quality sharia lifestyle. This concert demonstrates that the sharia industry is competitive, relevant to younger generations, and an important driver for East Java’s tourism sector,” said Jajang Abdul Karim, RCEO BSI Region Surabaya.
Joey Ferry, Event Director of Color Asia Live, called the tour a milestone for the concert landscape.
“We’re thrilled to bring Maher Zain back. He has become an icon of modern spiritual music for millions in Indonesia. His collaboration with Harris J created a fresh combination and an unforgettable concert experience for all,” he said.
Eliana Noor, Director of Media Internusa, noted that anticipation surged after Maher posted a teaser of “Qalbi Fil Madinah” featuring Harris J in early March 2025.
“The teaser mesmerized Muslim audiences across Indonesia. Since then, fans have been eager to see Maher Zain perform live,” Eliana said.
With a fully booked venue, emotional fan interactions, and powerful on-stage chemistry between Maher Zain and Harris J, the Surabaya concert closed the Indonesia Tour on a triumphant and memorable note -- giving thousands of fans a deeply meaningful musical experience.
