Jakarta. Astra Honda Motor (AHM) has launched a series of initiatives aimed at involving youth to help contribute to Indonesia’s development.

To achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs), AHM is embracing what it calls Sinergi Bagi Negeri (“Synergizing for the Nation”). AHM has partnered with many stakeholders in activities across four fields, namely education, environment, economy, and driving safety.

According to AHM corporate communication general manager Ahmad Muhibbuddin, these initiatives also engage the youth in a move to get their creative ideas.

“We are pleased to see the young people are truly excited to synergize in advancing this country across many sectors. This collaboration with the young generation is expected to have a continuous positive impact on the nation’s development and prosperity,” Ahmad was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.

As part of the program, AHM and the AHM Foundation are giving scholarships. This year, they have provided scholarships worth Rp 1.4 billion to 286 students, 30 teachers, and 209 students across 10 provinces.

AHM is teaming up with the young generation to encourage people to ride more safely. The company has also set up Astra Honda safety riding labs across 5 provinces, as well as 6 parks where children can learn about road safety. AHM has also launched programs to hone the safety riding ambassadors at the safety riding camps.

To save the planet, AHM has planted 4,040 trees across 26 regions in Indonesia in partnership with environmental communities.

On the economic front, the AHM Foundation has facilitated 27 young entrepreneurs in the two-wheeled automotive repair sector through the Astra Honda Youthpreneurship Program (AHYPP) in 12 provinces. The support includes capital assistance, work tools, as well as improvement of technical competence and business management. The AHYPP program has been able to provide an average monthly turnover of tens of millions of rupiah with a workforce of 1 to 5 people in each workshop.
