Jakarta. Heli Expo Asia (HEXIA) will return on Aug. 20–24 at Cengkareng Heliport, bringing a renewed spirit and offering a more innovative and inclusive experience for the helicopter and air transport industry in the Asia region.

Now in its third year, HEXIA carries the theme “Elevating the Industry, Transforming Sustainable Tomorrow,” reflecting its vision of becoming the epicenter of growth and innovation in Asia’s helicopter sector, according to CEO T. Iskandar Muda.

“HEXIA is not just a platform but an ecosystem that drives innovation and cross-sector collaboration—from business players, industry leaders, stakeholders, to representatives from both government and private sectors, nationally and internationally,” he said.

According to him, HEXIA 2025 is open to the general public, including families and students, so they can directly witness the development of air transport technology, experience joyflights, and get to know the helicopter industry up close.

“Our hope is that this experience will spark interest among the younger generation in the field of aviation,” Iskandar added.

This year, the exhibition will be held exclusively at the Helicopter Display Center (HDC), a special area located within the newly built Main Facility Building (MFB) owned by Whitesky Aviation. The location was chosen to reflect high service standards and to represent a long-term investment in the development of helicopter infrastructure in Indonesia.

Whitesky Aviation’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ari Nurwanda, said that in support of that vision, Whitesky Aviation, as the champion company in the helicopter and air transport sector, also facilitates the exhibition.

“The development of the MFB and HDC is not only aimed at providing ‘sixth star’ service standards to industry players but also represents our commitment to strengthening modern and high-standard helicopter infrastructure,” he said.

As an archipelagic country with diverse industries, Indonesia has a real need for flexible transportation modes to reach hard-to-access areas. However, the use of helicopters is still underutilized. Through its participation in HEXIA, Whitesky Aviation aims to promote and educate businesses on smart and efficient air transportation solutions to support productivity and connectivity across sectors.

HEXIA 2025 will feature the participation of Japanese electric air taxi company SKYDRIVE, showcasing the exploration of future urban air mobility through modern and efficient eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) technology.

Ari Nurwanda explained that SKYDRIVE’s presence at HEXIA 2025 is a significant step in introducing electric air taxi technology to the public.

“As pioneers in air transport solutions, we see eVTOL as the future of greener and more efficient mobility. We hope SKYDRIVE’s participation will open new insights for industry players and accelerate the adoption of this technology in the Asia region,” he said.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to see up close various advanced helicopters, including:

  • Bell 505, known for its agility, panoramic windows, Garmin G1000HTM navigation system, and noise-cancelling headphones;

  • Airbus ACH145, featuring a spacious cabin, Helionix technology, rearview camera, and charger outlets;

  • Bell 429, offering business-class comfort with plush interiors, an autopilot system, and dual engines for optimal performance.

Throughout the five-day event, visitors can attend conference sessions featuring over 30 speakers from Indonesia and abroad, and enjoy more than 70 free helicopter flights offered during the event.

The conference series will cover three main themes:

  • eVTOL (Day 1)

  • Helicopter Emergency Medical Services / HEMS (Day 2)

  • Connectivity (Day 3)

The event is open to industry professionals, academics, communities, students, and the general public—making HEXIA an inclusive platform for sharing knowledge, technology, and collaboration opportunities in the helicopter and future air transport industry.

Broad Support from Multiple Stakeholders
In a separate occasion, Presidential Special Advisor for Energy, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, expressed his appreciation for the HEXIA initiative. He emphasized that this heli expo not only showcases helicopters as a mode of transport but also provides insights into emerging technologies that could be game changers in the sector.

“Future helicopter technologies are expected to support clean energy and play roles across sectors—from business to education. I believe it would be highly beneficial for all of us to attend and take advantage of Heli Expo 2025,” he stated.

Meanwhile, from the international academic community, Dr. Jack Patel, Academic Officer & Associate Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Asia, highlighted the importance of HEXIA as a valuable experience for the younger generation.

“I think this is an extraordinary opportunity for us to be involved. It is an honor and privilege for our students to be exposed to the industry. Opportunities like this are rare and highly valuable, especially since we don’t always get them in other countries,” he concluded.
