Govt Praises Sundra SuperApp for Nurturing 'Santripreneurs'
Jakarta. The government recently praised Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School's efforts in nurturing entrepreneurship among its students via the so-called Sundra Supe App.
The school, which lies in Lamongan, is making use of the app to generate new "santripreneurs" ('student-enterpreneurs'). PT Teknologi Sunan Drajat Lamongan develops this platform that aims to integrate various digital transactions and entrepreneurial services within the Islamic boarding school. Deputy Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Helvi Y Moraza recently commented on this app during its launching ceremony.
"The Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School is capable of creating business opportunities and carrying out digital transformation to grow and upgrade MSMEs," Helvi was quoted as saying in a press statement.
"We commend the Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School for its digital transformation through the Sundra SuperApp," Helvi said.
He also applauded how students got involved in developing the school's economic centers, be it the convenience store or umrah agency.
According to Helvi, the MSME Ministry plans to partner with the Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School in implementing a pilot project for the Santripreneur program. This program will provide support in the form of access to financing, market expansion, and entrepreneurship training for the students to strengthen their competitiveness.
"Santripreneurs are capable of providing readiness for all people," Helvi said.
Anas Al Hifni, the school's director for economic affairs, said that the school looked forward to the partnership with the ministry.
"Hopefully, this effort can create sustainable independence for Islamic boarding schools," Anas said.
Lamongan's deputy regent Dirham Akbar Aksara said that Islamic boarding schools had played a major role in nurturing students who are intelligent, creative, and adaptable to current trends. The Sundra SuperApp is expected to motivate local communities to adapt to the rapidly changing digital era.
"The Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School demonstrates that Islamic boarding schools can keep pace with technological developments," said Dirham.
