2025 Tanoto Foundation Education Coverage Scholarship is Now Open

Jakarta. The 2025 Tanoto Foundation Education Coverage Scholarships for Indonesian journalists is now open, with the award totaling up to Rp 100 million ($6,092).

The Tanoto Foundation encourages journalists to highlight issues, innovations, and achievements in Indonesian education. Participants may cover the issues via articles, videos, and and podcasts.

The scholarship program will begin by accepting coverage proposals. It will select 30 individuals to receive the first phase of scholarship. After they have completed the coverage and published the work in their respective media outlets, a panel of judges will select the top three works. These three will receive much bigger awards.

The program has three themes: early childhood education and development; elementary education; higher education. These themes are further divided into several sub-themes so journalists can focus on the isues that they consider to be relevant and of interest in their respective regions.

The 2025 Tanoto Foundation Educational Coverage Scholarship will run from September to November 2025.

The following is the full timeline of the program:

  • Proposal submission: September 12 - October 10
  • Tanoto Foundation online introduction: September 22
  • Announcement of selected proposals: October 20
  • Article publication in respective media outlets: October 20 - November 21
  • Announcement of the three best works: November 28

There are some criteria that participants have to meet:

  • Participants must be full-time or freelance journalists actively working for media outlets in Indonesia.
  • Digital media content creators who manage content on digital platforms, podcasts, or YouTube according to journalistic principles.
  • Provide proof of publication in mass media, whether print, digital, radio, or television.
  • Understand the journalistic code of ethics and the principles of responsible journalism.

The terms and conditions for proposals for this program are as follows:

  • Proposals submitted must have never been or are not currently submitted to other competitions.
  • Proposals submitted must be able to The originality of the report is guaranteed, not an adaptation, translation, or plagiarism, and the Journalistic Code of Ethics is adhered to.
  • This work is a new report, produced between September 22 and November 21, 2025.
