Jakarta.  The 2024 Garmin Run Asia Series is scheduled to take place on Sep. 29 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. 

This running event is open to the public and comes with different categories: 5k, 10k, 21k, and Kids Dash. Garmin has also picked “From Zero to Hero” which seeks to promote inclusivity and sustainability through multiple multi-stakeholder initiatives. Garmin vows to support every athlete’s journey with its technology. 

"As the initiator of the Garmin Run, we hope that this event can provide education on the importance of reliable GPS navigation, in-depth training metrics, and direct feedback that allows runners to overcome their own limitations and reach their best potential," Sky said. 

Garmin hopes that having people with disabilities take part in the competition will inspire more people. 

Jakarta Swift wheelchair basketball athlete Johanna Caroline said the participation of people with disabilities in the 2024 Garmin Run would open opportunities for anyone to break boundaries in sports. 

“This race is not just about winning medals, it is also about creating opportunities for everyone to compete fairly and celebrate diversity. The finish line not only marks a personal achievement but also symbolizes success in overcoming all obstacles and motivates us to keep moving forward despite facing challenges," Johanna said. 

The 2024 Garmin Run has also partnered with Rekosistem. As part of the partnership, Rekosistem will provide waste drop boxes, and teach its participants to be better at sorting waste, which will then be reprocessed. This partnership is also part of Garmin’s strategy to make sure that the event abides by sustainability principles.

"We hope that Rekosistem can contribute to helping create sporting events that have a positive impact on the environment and surrounding communities while still paying attention to environmental sustainability and low carbon emissions," Rekosistem’s VP for Business Development Rizky Satrio said. 

Ahead of the main event, Garmin will host a series of activities through the Garmin Run Club (GRC) both in the regular Run with Us agenda which takes place every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at GBK, as well as various GRC workshops aimed at teaching runners how to achieve their running targets carefully. 

Garmin will also hold roadshows in major cities, including the GRC Meet Up with Garmin Coach, as well as Training Camps at every Car Free Day event. 

Participants for the race include athletes and celebrities who are passionate about running, such as Agus Prayogo, Natrio Catra Yososha and Jauhari Johan.
