Singapore Arrests Six Indonesians for Unlawful Entry
Jakarta. Singaporean authorities recently arrested six Indonesian men for unlawful entry.
The Indonesians aged between 23 and 29 years old were sailing on a wooden craft when the Singaporean Police Coast Guard intercepted them at sea off Tanah Merah. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were trying to seek employment in Singapore.
The Indonesian Embassy has spoken with the Singaporean Police Force following the arrest.
“The embassy will continue to confirm with the local authorities to gain official information on the Indonesians’ identity and legal status,” a statement by the Foreign Ministry reads.
The embassy will also find updates on the charges against the arrested Indonesians.
According to the Singapore-based news agency CNA, they can each face a jail term of up to six months and at least three strokes of the cane if found guilty.
