Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has issued a presidential decree granting full rehabilitation to three former executives of state-owned ferry operator ASDP Indonesia Ferry who were recently convicted of corruption, the Presidential Office announced on Tuesday.

The decree annuls the graft verdicts handed down to former ASDP President Director Ira Puspadewi, along with former directors Muhammad Yusuf Hadi and Harry Muhammad Adhi Caksono.

On November 20, a Jakarta court sentenced Ira to four years and six months in prison, while Yusuf and Harry each received four years for their roles in the acquisition of a private company that state auditors said caused Rp 1.25 trillion ($75 million) in state losses.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the presidential pardon followed a comprehensive evaluation after the government "received substantial input regarding the case," including recommendations from the House of Representatives (DPR). Prasetyo announced the decision alongside Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Separately, Ira expressed gratitude to the president through her attorney, Soesilo Aribowo, who said the pardon demonstrates that the three executives were subjected to a flawed legal process.

“Their rights and dignity must now be restored,” Soesilo said, adding that the three should be released from detention without further delay.

However, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has rejected claims of procedural error in the investigation, which began in July 2024.

“All evidence gathering, witness testimony, and other elements were examined in open court,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement Asep Guntur Rahayu, stressing that the institution followed legal procedures in prosecuting the three executives.

Asep added that the KPK has no authority to interfere with a presidential pardon.
