Police Find No Foul Play in Death of Influencer Lula Lahfah
Jakarta. Police have halted their investigation into the death of social media influencer Lula Lahfah, who was found dead in her apartment unit last week, after concluding there were no indications of a criminal act.
The South Jakarta Metro Police decided to end the probe after investigators found no evidence of foul play, said Criminal Investigation Unit chief Iskandarsyah.
“As there was no indication of a criminal incident, we have decided to stop the investigation,” Iskandarsyah told a press conference in Jakarta on Friday, as quoted by state news agency Antara.
He said a forensic examination of the victim’s body showed no signs of violence or unlawful acts. Police also questioned at least 15 witnesses and reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to reconstruct the victim’s final activities.
“We are confident there is no criminal element in this incident,” Iskandarsyah said.
Lula Lahfah was found dead in her apartment in South Jakarta on Friday, Jan. 23. Earlier, the Jakarta Metro Police had also questioned 10 witnesses, including a domestic helper and a driver who were the first to discover the body, as well as two technicians from the apartment management.
During their investigation, South Jakarta police found several medications and an outpatient treatment letter on the 25th floor of the apartment building where the victim lived, located on Dharmawangsa Street in Cipete Utara, Kebayoran Baru. The items were discovered on the evening of Jan. 23 at around 6:44 p.m. local time.
South Jakarta Police spokesperson Comr. Murodih reiterated that there were no signs of assault on the victim’s body.
“There were no indications of abuse. However, medications and an outpatient letter from RSPI hospital were found,” Murodih said in a statement on Saturday, Jan. 24.
Police have not disclosed further details about the cause of death and said the case is now considered closed following the conclusion that no crime was involved.
