PKS Lawmaker Resigns amid Domestic Violence Investigation
Jakarta. Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Bukhori Yusuf has resigned from the party and his House of Representatives post amid domestic violence allegations brought by his second wife.
His resignation came as police began an investigation against him to follow up on the complaint while the party is also in the process of taking disciplinary measures.
“This matter has been known and being discussed by the party’s [disciplinary committee] for a long time ago,” PKS Advisory Board Chairman Adang Daradjatun said on Tuesday.
Adang, who is also the chairman of the House ethics council, said the national legislature won’t take further actions against Bukhori because he already resigned.
"He is no longer a House member so the process in the ethics council automatically comes to an end,” Adang said.
Bukhori’s second wife, identified by initials MY, lodged a police complaint against his allegedly abusive behavior in Bandung in November 2022.
Adang said the PKS disciplinary committee began to interrogate Bukhori in February.
