Movie Star Gisella Files Police Report Over Porn Video Rumor
Jakarta. Indonesian actress and singer Gisella Anastasia filed a police complaint against "many social media accounts" for defamation on Friday after she was rumored of having appeared in an amateur pornographic video.
The report also cited regulations against the spread of pornographic content under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law.
Gisella strongly denied having appeared in the video.
She said the rumors had damaged her reputation and that she was compelled to take legal action to prevent a repeat.
"It has done a lot of damage to me. I'm a woman, a mother of a child, and I have my family. I don't want this to happen to me, or to other people again. The police complaint is against many [social media] accounts," she told reporters at the Jakarta Police headquarters.
Her attorney, Sandy Arifin, said several accounts on various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, as well as some WhatsApp chat groups, had been reported to police.
"We reported them all and Gisella has handed the evidence to police. Next, we are waiting for a police summons from investigators handling this case," the lawyer said.
While awaiting the police summons, Gisella will also try to collect more evidence and witnesses to support her police complaint, he said.
"Gisella has asked her friends to notify her if they see related posts on social media accounts, and we will report them to police as well," he said.
The lawyer cited articles 27 and 45 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law that carry a maximum penalty of six years' imprisonment for defamation and the electronic dissemination of pornographic content.
Gisella, a finalist in the 2008 Indonesian Idol, has appeared in at least five movies and two television soap operas. The 28-year-old actress is also known as a singer, having released three singles between 2011 and 2016.
