Bekasi. A massive fire broke out at the TAK Textiles Indonesia factory on Jalan Hajar Mekar in North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, early Tuesday while a work shift was still underway.

All employees were safely evacuated, but the blaze caused extensive damage to the facility.

The Bekasi Regency Fire Department received the first report at approximately 2:10 a.m. and immediately deployed crews to the scene.

According to preliminary police information, the fire quickly engulfed the production area where rolls of fabric were stored. It is suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit in one of the textile storage warehouses. The highly flammable fabric materials allowed the fire to intensify rapidly and spread to adjacent structures.

To combat the large blaze, firefighters deployed 11 fire engines.

Crews faced major challenges on-site. The compact layout of the factory buildings made it difficult for firefighters to access multiple sides of the structure.

Firefighter Khoiru described the situation on the ground:

“Our difficulty is the building layout, which is very tight. We can’t get inside. The fire takes a long time to put out because what’s burning is fabric,” he said.
“Fortunately, all employees have already been evacuated,” Khoiru added.

As of the time of reporting, fire crews were still working to fully extinguish and cool the site. The total material losses have yet to be assessed. Further investigation into the exact cause of the fire is being handled by the Bekasi Metropolitan Police and North Cikarang Police Precinct.
