Jakarta. Prosecutors' attempt to sell a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon seized from aggravated assault convict Mario Dandy was fruitless on Friday as no bidder showed up.

The auction, part of authorized efforts to collect money from Mario, who is ordered to pay his victim Rp 25 billion in restitution, in addition to a 12-year prison sentence, failed to attract any interested parties.

The 2013 Jeep Wrangler, representing only a fraction of the judgment, was assigned a floor price of Rp 809.3 million (approximately $50,000) at the start of the bidding process earlier this week. Prospective bidders were required to deposit Rp 242 million to participate in the auction.

"No one was interested in the car until the bidding period was closed at 10 a.m.," said South Jakarta prosecutor Reza Prasetyo Handono. "We will reschedule the auction after evaluating the starting price -- whether it will be the same or cheaper."

Mario was convicted of aggravated assault for an attack on a teenager on February 20, 2023, which caused his victim to suffer brain damage and temporary paralysis. The incident garnered widespread attention after a video of the assault went viral online, leading to scrutiny of Mario's lavish lifestyle, often showcased on his social media platforms.

His father, Rafael Alun Trisambodo, a high-ranking tax official, also faced legal troubles following the investigation into his son's criminal case. 

Rafael was named a corruption suspect and detained in April after authorities discovered $2.2 million worth of banknotes hidden in his safe deposit boxes. He resigned from his position amid an international investigation by the Finance Ministry and revelations about his undisclosed wealth.
