Yogyakarta. Vice presidential candidate Mohammad Mahfud MD exercised his right to vote in the 2024 elections at Polling Station (TPS) 106 located in Sambilegi Lor, Depok District in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region on Wednesday.

Accompanied by his wife, Zaizatun Nihayati, and their son, Royhan Akbar, Mahfud MD walked approximately 150 meters from his home to reach the polling station.

Arriving at the TPS around 8:00 AM, Mahfud and his family greeted waiting citizens before entering the polling location.

"I have cast my vote at TPS 106 Sambilegi Lor, Maguwoharjo, Sleman. I felt and witnessed that the process was fair; we registered, presented our ballots, cast our votes in secrecy, and placed the ballots in the ballot box," said the vice-presidential candidate number 3 to reporters on Wednesday.

Mahfud expressed his hope that the elections across all polling stations would proceed in an orderly manner, similar to TPS 106 Sambilegi. "If all polling stations are like this, the elections will not lead to disputes; the results will be fine, and Indonesia will have a good leader starting today," said Mahfud.

Around 15 minutes later, Mahfud and his family completed the voting process and walked back to their residence.

Based on a recent survey conducted by the research and consulting firm Indikator Politik Indonesia, presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka are poised to win with 51.8 percent of the vote in the upcoming February 14 presidential election.

Former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar are trailing in a distant second with 24.1 percent of the vote, followed by former Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud with 21.1 percent.
