KPK Seizes 91 Luxury Vehicles from Ex-East Kalimantan Regent Rita Widyasari
Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced on Thursday that it has confiscated 91 luxury vehicles from graft convict Rita Widyasari, the former regent of Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan, as part of asset recovery measures.
The seizure list released by the KPK includes many sports cars and premium SUVs registered under different names.
Notable vehicles include a Lamborghini Huracan, a Lamborghini Urus, a Lamborghini Aventador, a Ferrari 488GTB, a Hummer H3, a Porsche 911 GT3, a McLaren 720S, a Lexus LM 350, and numerous BMW and Mercedes Benz cars, along with scores of Ducati and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said the commission also seized thousands of square meters of land and 30 luxury watches of various brands, such as Rolex, Richard Mille, and Hublot.
Operations to trace Rita’s assets have been conducted in several locations in East Kalimantan since late May.
“KPK prosecutors will request judges to validate the seizure and order those assets to be handed over to the state,” Ali said.
Rita was found guilty of accepting bribes totaling Rp 110 billion ($6.8 million) from business entities that won government projects in Kutai Kartanegara while she was in office. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison in July 2018.
She is currently serving her sentence at the Pondok Bambu Women’s Prison in Jakarta.
