Tangerang. The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has confirmed that the pilot of a Tecnam P2006T training aircraft engaged in communication before the plane crashed in the BSD Serpong area of South Tangerang. The KNKT is currently investigating the content of these communications, as the aircraft was not equipped with a black box.

KNKT Chairman Soerjanto Tjahjono said that they are attempting to retrieve the conversation records from two air traffic control (ATC) towers that were in contact with the pilot: Halim Perdanakusuma Airport and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

“No, it doesn't have a black box,” Soerjanto clarified on Monday.

Soerjanto emphasized that the ATC tower communications are crucial for determining the cause of the crash. Therefore, the KNKT will coordinate with the relevant ATC towers to obtain these records.

"We already know they had their last contact with the control tower at Halim, but we haven't yet interviewed or requested the data from Halim tower to find out the exact content of the final conversation," he explained.

"They also had a conversation with the control tower at Cengkareng (Soekarno-Hatta), so we will also request that recording," he added.

Although the investigation is initially focused on the two ATC towers, Soerjanto noted that they are also exploring the possibility of other communications made by the pilot.

Previously, the Tecnam P2006T training aircraft, owned by Indonesia Flying Club Pondok Cabe, crashed at Sunburst Field in Cilenggang, BSD, South Tangerang, on Sunday. The crash resulted in the deaths of all three occupants: the pilot, the co-pilot, and an engineer.

The aircraft initially took off from Pondok Cabe Airport and was heading to Salakanagara Special Airport in Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang, Banten. After departing from Tanjung Lesung, it was returning to Pondok Cabe.

The Indonesia Flying Club's aircraft, carrying three crew members, was conducting a survey in preparation for an upcoming event organized by the aviation club.

"They were testing the airstrip at Tanjung Lesung. The airstrip is reportedly new, and the plane was performing a trial landing and take-off there before returning to Pondok Cabe," Soerjanto explained.

"I don’t know the exact age of the plane yet, but it probably isn’t very old," he concluded.
