All 10 Victims of Plane Crash in South Sulawesi Identified
Makassar. The Indonesian Police have completed the identification of all 10 people killed in the ATR 42-500 crash in South Sulawesi on Jan. 17, authorities said on Sunday.
South Sulawesi Police Chief Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro said the victims comprised seven crew members and three passengers.
“Most of the bodies or body parts were still identifiable and matched the personal data listed in the aircraft’s manifest,” Djuhandhani told reporters in Makassar.
South Sulawesi Police medical chief Muh Haris said seven bodies handed over by the National Search and Rescue Agency on Jan. 23 were identified following physical examinations. The remaining three victims had been found and identified earlier in the search operation.
“The identification process involved fingerprints, dental records, personal belongings, and medical characteristics,” Haris said.
The victims were identified as:
- Yoga Nouval Prakoso, an employee with the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Ministry
- Ferry Irawan, 41, a ministry employee
- Muhammad Parhan Gunawan, 26, co-pilot
- Hariadi, 57, crew member
- Dwi Murdiono, 40, crew member
- Restu Adi Pribadi, 40, crew member
- Andi Dahananto, 58, pilot
Police had earlier identified and handed over the remains of two flight attendants, Florencia Lolita Wibisono, 33, and Esther Aprilita, 26, as well as ministry employee Deden Maulana, 43, to their respective families.
The aircraft crashed while flying at low altitude on approach to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport after departing from Yogyakarta.
Transportation and aviation safety authorities said the plane veered off its designated flight path and struck mountainous terrain before reaching the runway.
