Jakarta. Members of the Joko "Jokowi" Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin campaign team paid a visit to the Constitutional Court on Monday afternoon to consult with the court on the election dispute launched by their rivals Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno on Friday night.

Jokowi-Ma'ruf campaign team deputy chairman Arsul Sani came to the court on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat in Central Jakarta accompanied by campaign team lawyer Yusril Ihza Mahendra, the team's director of law and advocacy Ade Irfan Pulungan and his deputy Juri Ardiantoro, who is the former chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU).

"We will discuss the results from the consultation in [an internal] meeting and then we will submit a request to the Constitutional Court to be involved [in the election dispute]," Arsul said.

There will be around 20 to 30 lawyers in the Jokowi-Ma'ruf legal team, including Irfan and Juri.

The legal team will be led by the highly experienced Yusril. He is the founder and chairman of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) and a former Justice and Human Rights Minister, State Secretary and speechwriter for military dictator Suharto.

The lawsuit filed by the Prabowo-Sandiaga legal team contains seven demands, which include disqualifying Jokowi and Ma'ruf from the 2019 presidential election and naming Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno as president and vice president-elect of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 period.

Irma Suryani Chaniago, a spokesman for Jokowi's campaign team, said she was optimistic that the court will reject the lawsuit.

She referred to when the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) rejected complaints made by the Prabowo camp regarding the election – which they claim is fraudulent – for lack of evidence.

"This will end the same way, just like what happened at the Bawaslu [last week], because they don't have any evidence," Irma said on Monday, as quoted by CNN Indonesia.

According to Irma, the evidence submitted by Prabowo's legal team is very weak and will not stand in court.

"They only gave printouts of online news articles, which they themselves made up and were then published in the media. A report with evidence like that, not only weak but fake, will definitely be rejected," she said.
