Joe Biden Sends Delegation to Attend Prabowo's Presidential Inauguration
Jakarta. US President Joe Biden has appointed a delegation to attend the inauguration of Prabowo Subianto as Indonesia's eighth president on Sunday.
According to the US Embassy in Jakarta, US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield will lead the delegation.
Members of the presidential delegation include US Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir; Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command Admiral Samuel Paparo, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel J. Kritenbrink, and Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania Mira Rapp-Hooper.
Biden was among the first world leaders to congratulate Prabowo on his election success after the latter was projected as the winner of the presidential election by many pollsters.
“For 75 years, Indonesia and the United States have grown closer -- bound by our shared values and democratic, pluralistic vision for the world,” Biden wrote to Prabowo on March 12.
“Together, we have also safeguarded international stability, including forging a future for the Indo-Pacific that is free, open, prosperous, and secure. We are stronger -- and the world is safer -- when Indonesia and the United States stand together.”
