Jakarta Police Seize 2,500 LSD Sheets from Germany
Jakarta. The Jakarta Police have uncovered a case involving the distribution of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) drugs, commonly known as "acid," imported from Germany. A total of 2,500 sheets of LSD were confiscated.
"We have arrested a suspect named NK, who was identified as a courier and distributor of LSD," stated Hengki, the Director of Narcotics, during a press briefing at the Jakarta Police Headquarters on Friday.
Hengki revealed that NK acquired the LSD from Germany, dispatched through the courier service JNE. "LSD falls under the category of a class 1 narcotic," added Hengki.
The LSD, as described by Hengki, is presented in the form of stamps adorned with cartoon motifs. He highlighted that teenagers in Jakarta are among the consumers of this LSD.
"Its primary users are students. The consumption is straightforward and is particularly popular among teenagers, especially with motifs resembling cartoon characters," explained Hengki.
In addition to the LSD case, the police disclosed a marijuana-related case, involving a total of 66 kilograms of the substance, along with the discovery of an ecstasy production facility. Consequently, three suspects were apprehended.
The marijuana was confiscated within the past month from three separate locations in North Jakarta and South Jakarta.
Hengki elaborated on the various methods employed, such as concealing drugs within cargo shipments and disguising them as food items.
"In addition to concealing drugs within food packages, we have also encountered instances where drug parcels were camouflaged as coffee packets," Hengki disclosed. As a result, individuals with the initials IP, DY, and HP were apprehended for their involvement in drug distribution.
Furthermore, Hengki emphasized that those involved in drug trafficking face potential prison sentences ranging from a minimum of 5 years to a maximum of 20 years.
