Jakarta. The tragic death of Raden Andante Khalif Pramudityo, affectionately known as Dante, the 6-year-old son of Indonesian celebrities Tamara Tyasmara and DJ Angger Dimas, has now entered the formal investigation phase.
On Wednesday, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police provided the latest updates on Dante's untimely demise, which occurred when he was found lifeless in a swimming pool in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta on Jan. 27, 2024. Following a thorough case review, the investigators concluded that there were indications of criminal activity surrounding Dante's death.
"Based on our case review, we have determined that there are suspicions of criminal activity, leading our investigative team to elevate the status from inquiry to a full-fledged investigation," said Police Commissioner Wira Satya Triputra, the Director of General Crime Investigation at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters, on Wednesday.
Commissioner Wira said they are applying Article 359 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), which pertains to negligence resulting in the death of another person. However, he added that additional charges may be considered as the investigation progresses.
"While we are currently focusing on negligence, we are not ruling out the possibility of uncovering other criminal aspects in this case," he said.
In response to queries about the potential involvement of Tamara Tyasmara's partner in the incident, Commissioner Wira said they are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to assess any signs of negligence. The police have exhumed Dante's remains as part of their investigative efforts.
"The examination of the organs, which were retrieved during the exhumation on Tuesday has been conducted at the forensic laboratory in Sentul. Additionally, the digital CCTV evidence is currently undergoing forensic examination at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency," he added.
Moreover, Jakarta Metropolitan Police continues interviewing several witnesses, with 20 individuals already questioned. These witnesses include the swimming pool management, Tamara Tyasmara's partner, hospital staff, and eyewitnesses to the incident.
Commissioner Wira confirmed the presence of Tamara Tyasmara's partner at the scene but did not disclose the identity, stating that the individual remains a witness.
"Based on CCTV footage, he was there," Commissioner Wira revealed to reporters on Wednesday.
Tamara appeared at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police's Directorate of General Crime Investigation on Wednesday for additional questioning regarding the death of her son. She greeted the media with a smile and a wave, refraining from making extensive comments.
The unfortunate incident took place at the Tirtamas Pondok Kelapa swimming pool on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024. Witnesses reported seeing Dante experiencing distress during swimming practice, vomiting, and subsequently losing consciousness. Despite being rushed to the Islamic Hospital Pondok Kopi in East Jakarta, his life could not be saved.
Dante's tragic death unfolded under the supervision of Angger Dimas' ex-wife, Tamara, who was reportedly on a television show set at the swimming pool where the incident occurred.
Angger Dimas, an international DJ renowned for collaborations with artists like Diplo and Iggy Azalea, has recently retracted his initial refusal to autopsy his son. Dimas suspects foul play, expressing doubts that Dante's death was accidental drowning.
The hashtag #JusticeForDante has gained traction among public figures, including international musicians and DJs who have collaborated with Angger, such as Steve Aoki, Laidback Luke, and Nervo.
