Jakarta Police Arrest 8 Suspects for Illegal Imports
Jakarta. The Jakarta Police have arrested eight suspects accused of the illegal imports of goods ranging from used clothes and cosmetics to drones and watches.
The identities of the suspects, including a Chinese national and a Nigerian who has been granted Indonesian citizenship, were not disclosed.
Adjunct Commissioner Hendri Umar from the criminal investigation unit said on Tuesday the value of the illegal imports since January totaled around Rp 13 billion.
The syndicate also imported cosmetics from Nigeria and toiletries from China, he said.

The suspects have been charged under the trade law and the consumer protection law which carry a maximum punishment of 12 years in prison.
