It Takes Time, Jokowi Asks the Public Not to Press about Capital City Relocation
Penajam Paser Utara. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the public not to rush to request that the capital be immediately moved from Jakarta to Nusantara in East Kalimantan. Jokowi argued the haste in relocating the capital will bring more problems in the future.
“Moving house is a complicated matter, let alone relocating the capital city. There is no need to be in hurry because that ultimately will backfire,” Jokowi said after attending the TNI Fun Run in Nusantara on Sunday.
According to him, the relocation of the capital city should proceed naturally after basic infrastructures and utilities are available. He added that the relocation of the capital will be carried out slowly and in stages.
Jokowi said the Presidential Decree regarding the capital relocation will be signed by the next president, Prabowo Subianto, who will be inaugurated on October 20 alongside the new Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi's eldest son.
