Indonesian Embassy Admin Staff Shot Dead in Peru
Jakarta. An administrative staff at the Indonesian Embassy in Lima recently got shot to death while cycling near his apartment.
The killer is still on the loose.
Peruvian news broadcast 24 Horas announced Tuesday Jakarta time that an Indonesian, Zetro Leonardo Purba, got shot thrice near his apartment. Zetro was on a bicycle with his wife. The father of three was immediately rushed to a local clinic that later confirmed his death. Zetro’s wife was unharmed during the attack.
Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono confirmed that Zetro was a chancery officer at the embassy, while also calling the victim a “highly dedicated employee”. According to Sugiono, the assailant is still unidentified.
“I expressed my deepest condolences. We have notified the Peruvian Foreign Ministry and local police to investigate this case thoroughly," Sugiono said.
He had instructed Indonesian Ambassador Ricky Suhendar to keep an eye on the case. “And also to take care of the repatriation process of the victim’s body,” Sugiono stated.
The Peruvian police have launched investigations to identify and capture the gunman.
