The victim, identified by his initials ADP, a junior diplomat, was found dead in his room on Jalan Gondangdia Kecil, Menteng, around midday. Police said his body was lying on the bed with his face covered in duct tape.
Officers arrived at the scene along with several Foreign Ministry staff after receiving a report about a man found dead in his room. Upon inspection, Arya was found unresponsive and declared dead at the scene.
Arya, a graduate of Gadjah Mada University (UGM), had worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since January 2014.
The cause of death remains under investigation, with authorities treating the case as suspicious.
A relative, Iyarman Waruwu, expressed shock over ADP's death and urged police to thoroughly investigate the case.
“Today, we received the sad news that our relative, ADP, who worked at the Foreign Ministry, was found dead in his boarding room this morning. We are still waiting for the autopsy and official findings to determine the cause of death,” Iyarman said.
