Edie Toet Hendratno Mulls Countercharges in Face of Sexual Harassment Allegations
Jakarta. Edie Toet Hendratno, the suspended chancellor of Pancasila University, is considering taking legal action against RZ and D, employees who have accused him of sexual harassment. This statement was conveyed by Edie's legal representative, Faizal Hafied.
"Please wait, in the next few days (we will file a report)," Faizal told Beritasatu.com, a sister publication of the Jakarta Globe, on Tuesday.
Faizal did not disclose the specific charges that would be used against RZ, 42, and D. However, he emphasized that the report aims to restore Edie Toet's reputation.
"Every legal effort will be made to restore the dignity of our client," he said.
Additionally, Faizal acknowledged that Edie is currently focused on undergoing questioning at the Jakarta Metro Police.
Previously, Edie Toet Hendratno faced accusations of sexual harassment from his employees, RZ and D. The two individuals accused Edie of non-consensual kissing and groping in separate incidents that occurred more than a year ago.
Edie vehemently denied the allegations of sexual abuse, expressing suspicion about the motive behind the accusations. "I was wondering about their motive behind all this, but I suspect it has something to do with the upcoming chancellor election at Pancasila University," said the law professor.
