Jakarta. Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan has finished voting in the 2024 elections at Polling Station (TPS) 60 in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta.

Before casting his vote, Anies was seen returning a ballot to the election officers due to damage at the edge of the ballot.

"The edge is torn, and it was returned," said Anies to reporters on Wednesday.

However, Anies said that the damage was not a result of illegal voting. Most likely, it tore while opening.

Anies said that the torn ballot was for the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD).

While casting his vote, Anies was accompanied by his family members who also participated in the voting, including his wife Fery Farhati, and his children Mutiara Annisa and Mikail Azizi. His mother Aliyah Rasyid and son-in-law Ali Saleh Alhuraebi were also present.

Anies expressed gratitude to everyone who worked diligently during the 2024 election.

"I want to express my gratitude to all the officials throughout Indonesia who worked very seriously, behind the scenes of the third-largest democratic process in the world," he said.

"This is an event scrutinized by the whole world, and we are proud and respectful of the officials whose faces never appear on the surface, but we all feel the results of their work," he added.

Lastly, he hoped for a peaceful electoral contest in 2024 without any division among the people. Whoever is elected, the community should be able to accept it.

"God willing, this election is an honest and fair election, and the community also accepts the results well with peaceful, calm conditions for everyone," he concluded.
