Jakarta. Vietnam will cut the visa-free facility for Indonesians to just 14 days, effective on July 15.

Indonesians are currently allowed to stay in the country without a visa for up to 30 days. The latest immigration policy shake-up will affect regular passport holders.  The 14-day visa-free facility is also only available for tourism and family visits.

"For stays exceeding 14 days or other travel purposes, a Vietnamese visa is required," a poster by the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi reads.

The embassy reminded all Indonesians to check their travel plans carefully before departure.

The state-run Vietnam News Agency, quoting the local tourism authorities, reported that the country attracted nearly 12.3 million international visitors in the first half of 2026. Vietnam also saw a 26.5% growth in Indonesian visitors.
