Jakarta. Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said Thursday that a DNA test would definitively settle allegations that he fathered a 3.5-year-old girl, following a public accusation by a woman claiming to have had an affair with him in 2021.

The mother, Lisa Mariana, brought the child to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency in Jakarta for blood and saliva sampling. Ridwan had arrived earlier and also submitted his samples.

After the sample collection, Ridwan addressed the media and signaled confidence that the test would support his position.

“Hopefully, this test will provide the answer we have been fighting for,” Ridwan told reporters.

“This was indeed our initiative so the matter can be resolved thoroughly and not drag on any longer, and so the public is no longer exposed to things that shouldn’t be in the public domain,” he added.

Ridwan’s attorney, Muslim Jaya Butarbutar, earlier said that his client would accept the result of the test, regardless of its outcome.

“Mr. Ridwan Kamil respects the legal process and will accept the result with full responsibility and maturity,” Muslim said at the police headquarters.

Samples were taken from Ridwan, Lisa, and the child, with legal representatives from both parties present to ensure fairness.

“The process was transparent and fair, attended by all parties involved. Nothing was done behind closed doors,” Muslim said.

Lisa alleges that Ridwan impregnated her when they both visited Palembang in June 2021, when she was 21. She also claims he urged her to terminate the pregnancy and offered her money.

In April 2025, Ridwan filed a defamation complaint against Lisa -- one month after she made the allegations public through social media posts that quickly went viral.

Now 53, Ridwan previously served as mayor of Bandung before being elected governor of West Java (2018–2023). In 2024, he ran for governor of Jakarta with the support of most major political parties, but was defeated by Pramono Anung, who ran with backing from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) alone.
