Jakarta. Indonesian singer Putri Ariani became a trending topic among internet users on Wednesday following her sensational appearance on the world-class reality show America's Got Talent where Simon Cowell came to the stage and told her she is "one of the best singers" the show ever had.

The clip of her performance immediately got 2.5 million views and was shared more than 25,000 times on Twitter as of Wednesday afternoon in Jakarta. On YouTube, the clip got 740,000 views and 108,000 likes. 

Putri, who is visually impaired, sang her own song while skillfully playing the piano, and then performed Elton John's "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" when Cowell asked for more.

"My biggest challenge is people look at me just as a blind person, not a musician. But when I'm singing I feel like a superstar," she said before entering the stage as seen in the AGT video.

She received the golden buzzer from Cowell.

"Congratulations to Putri Ariani for her amazing performance in the United States! You are an incredible talent," U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia Sung Y. Kim tweeted.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno sent an open message to Putri promising all support from the government.

"The 17-year-old from Riau really makes Indonesia proud. Putri, I hope you get the message. If you need support to achieve your dream, we at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry are ready to help," Sandiaga wrote.

After her performance, Putri Anjani captivated the attention and received incredible appreciation from all four judges including Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Heidi Klum. 

Putri's name started gaining recognition in 2014 when she participated in Indonesia's Got Talent and became the champion. Since then, she has become even more well-known. In 2016, Putri received the Anugerah Baiduri Award as an accomplished young singer at the national level.

She also reached the finals of The Voice Kids Indonesia in the second season. With her beautiful voice, Putri has developed her talent by composing several songs. Moreover, Putri has already released her debut album titled "Melihat Dengan Hati" (Seeing with Heart) on October 16, 2020.

During the 2018 Asian Paralympic Games, Putri had the opportunity to perform "Song of Victory" in the opening ceremony.
