Mataram. A 24-year-old Malaysian hiker, identified as Ng Yin Teck, was found dead by local residents at Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Wednesday (09/11).

The manager of Mt. Rinjani National Park's Senaru Resort, Gusti Ketut Suarta, said the victim's body was found at a hot springs in the Aik Kalak area.

The hiker had illegally entered the national park through the Sembalun hiking trek in East Lombok, Gusti told state-run Antara news agency.

Currently, the volcano is closed for hiking and all other mountaineering activities, following the eruption of Mount Barujari, located in the caldera of Mount Rinjani. The closure was declared in September 2015.
