Solo. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo attended the wedding of his nephew in Solo, Central Java, on Saturday, performing the ceremonial duty of a witness for the groom.

Adityo Rimbo Galih Samudro, the groom, is the son of Jokowi’s younger sister, Idayati, from her first marriage to Hari Mulyono, who passed away from illness in 2008. Idayati is now married to former Constitutional Court Chief Justice Anwar Usman.

The president, dressed in Javanese traditional attire, and First Lady Iriana arrived at the bride’s home on MT Haryono Street in Solo just before 8 a.m. All the president’s children and their spouses also attended the procession.

Former Sebelas Maret University Chancellor Ravik Karsidi served as the witness for the bride, Aisyah Nooratisya.

The ceremony was held behind closed doors with a limited number of guests.

Witnesses are required to sign documents after the bride and groom recite their wedding vows in front of the government-appointed wedding officiant.

“The groom was accompanied by his brother because both their parents had died. The oath-taking ceremony ran smoothly, and the groom presented the dowries of a set of Muslim prayer equipment and 52 grams of gold,” said wedding officiant Arbain Basyar.
