Jakarta. The National Mandate Party, or PAN, which supported Prabowo Subianto in last month's presidential election, has acknowledged the official result announced early on Tuesday morning.

"We acknowledge the results of the presidential and legislative elections, which were announced early this morning," PAN deputy chairman Bara Hasibuan told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He expressed his party's appreciation of the General Elections Commission (KPU) for its effort and commitment in organizing the elections and performing the official vote count.

"We also appreciate the KPU for working hard, despite flaws made here and there. The KPU has shown its commitment; it has been transparent, fair and responsive to problems in the field," Bara said.

He said PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan has ordered the party's election monitors to accept the results, despite dissatisfaction among legislative candidates for Central Java and North Sulawesi, who plan to take their disputes to the Constitutional Court.

Bara added that PAN will reconsider its political position for the next five years, but did not elaborate whether the party planned to remain in the opposition, or join the ruling coalition.

However, he did not rule out the possibility of the latter.

"We will decide whether we will become part of the government, led by President Joko Widodo," he said.

Bara also called on supporters not to participate in the planned mass action in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, and advised legislative candidates to resolve their election disputes through legal channels.
