Tiffany & Co Distributor Pledges to Resolve Customs Issues by June 26
Jakarta. Sumaco Wahana Utama, the independent distributor of Tiffany & Co products in Indonesia, said it expects to resolve all outstanding obligations with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise by June 26.
The statement comes after several Tiffany & Co retail outlets were closed in February amid an investigation into alleged illegal jewelry imports. Customs authorities allowed the stores to reopen last week, although they remain under close supervision.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Sumaco Wahana Utama Director Celina Tarigan said the matter relates solely to import activities and documentation handled by the local distributor.
She emphasized that Tiffany & Co. itself was not involved in the operational activities or administrative review currently being conducted by Indonesian authorities.
According to Celina, some import documents remain under review and are in the final stages of verification by the relevant agencies.
The company, she said, is committed to completing all required procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and within the agreed timeframe.
“We appreciate the constructive cooperation from Customs and Excise and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and corporate responsibility as we work to complete this process on schedule,” Celina said.
She added that the company remains focused on resolving the administrative process while maintaining the trust of customers, business partners, and other stakeholders.
The customs review centers on import documentation managed by Sumaco Wahana Utama as the local importer and distributor of Tiffany & Co products in Indonesia.
