Telkom Craft Indonesia 2018 Aims to Bolster Digital Economy
Jakarta. The Telkom Craft Indonesia 2018 exhibition is currently underway at the Jakarta Convention Center in Senayan.
State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno and Gatot Trihargo, deputy at the ministry's financial services unit, along with directors of various state-owned enterprises attended the opening ceremony on Thursday (22/03). They were accompanied by Telkom Indonesia president commissioner Hendri Saparini and president director Alex Sinaga.
In her opening speech, Minister Rini expressed appreciation for the fact that Telkom Craft Indonesia was initiated to support small and medium enterprises, as part of her ministry's Creative House program.
Participants in the exhibition include SMEs that have been developed under the program. After a curated selection process that assessed the levels of quality and competitiveness of their products, 400 SMEs were selected, 200 of which are overseen by Telkom, 150 by other state-owned enterprises, and 50 by various communities and associations.
"Telkom Craft Indonesia 2018 brought back the theme of the previous year: 'Local Heroes to Global Champions,' with hopes that Indonesian SMEs can soon grow and become globally competitive," Alex said during the opening ceremony.
He said the goal of Telkom Craft Indonesia is to empower SMEs so they can better compete on a global level, while at the same time becoming drivers of Indonesia's digital economy, in line with government programs to establish the country as the largest digital economic power in Southeast Asia.
The exhibition ends on Sunday.
