Jakarta. Aditec Cakrawiyasa, the manufacturer of Quantum brand gas stoves and regulator hoses, has been officially declared bankrupt. The company, which operates a factory on Jalan Raya Otonom in Cikupa District, Tangerang, Banten, has faced financial collapse, leading to the layoff of 511 employees.

According to Waloyo, the Chairman of the Workers' Union (PUK) for the Electronics and Electrical Sector at the company, the bankruptcy was formally declared by the Jakarta Commercial Court on July 22, 2024. He explained that the company had been suffering from financial losses for several years, with debts accumulating to both suppliers and employees.

“The bankruptcy is a result of financial losses over several years, along with the company’s inability to resolve its debt obligations,” Waloyo told Beritasatu.com on Thursday.

A nearly decade-long attempt to delay debt repayments failed, as the company was unable to improve its financial performance.

The bankruptcy has left 511 employees without jobs, with unpaid wages from 2018 and 2019 amounting to nearly Rp 22 billion, as well as wage shortfalls from 2019 to 2022 totaling around Rp 3.9 billion. The company also faces severance claims of Rp 22 billion for the affected employees, many of whom have worked for the company for 25 to 30 years.

Founded in 1993 by Rawono Sosrodimulyo, Aditec Cakrawiyasa initially started with four employees, developing local gas stoves to compete with international brands. Over the years, the company grew into a major player in the home appliance sector, expanding its product line to include gas cookers, rice cookers, and other household items. Despite its early success, the company’s financial difficulties eventually led to its collapse.
