Qatar Airways Inaugurates Doha-Kualanamu Route

Deli Serdang. Qatar Airways has launched its first flight on the Doha-Kualanamu route, operating three times a week. A contingent of 76 passengers from Qatar disembarked at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatera on Monday.

The flight is operated using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner under flight number QR966, with a seating capacity of 22 business class and 232 economy class seats.

"The presence of Qatar Airways at Kualanamu Airport presents opportunities for the local economy and reinforces North Sumatera's position as a key aviation hub,"  President Director of Angkasa Pura Aviasi, Achmad Rifai, said on Monday.

Qatar Airways will serve the route three times a week, specifically on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

"We hoped that all parties can work together to maintain the existence of the Doha-Kualanamu route and vice versa," he said.

Kualanamu Airport served 7.3 million passengers throughout 2023, marking a 26 percent increase compared to 2022. Additionally, the airport recorded 58,915 flights in 2023, an 18 percent rise from the previous year.
