JCI Sets New Highs on Surge in Year-End Trading Activity
Jakarta. Indonesia’s benchmark stock index extended its record-breaking run this week, supported by a sharp rise in trading activity and sustained investor participation, according to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) gained 0.32 percent over the past week, rising to 8,660.4 from 8,632.7 a week earlier. During the period, the index touched an all-time high of 8,710.6, while total market capitalization also reached a record Rp 16,004 trillion ($1.04 trillion).
In line with the index’s advance, total market capitalization increased by 0.24%, or about Rp 38 trillion, to Rp 15,882 trillion from Rp 15,844 trillion the previous week, IDX Corporate Secretary Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad said in a statement on Saturday.
The most significant jump was recorded in average daily trading value, which surged 41.95 percent week-on-week to Rp 30.29 trillion, from Rp 21.34 trillion previously. Average daily trading volume also climbed 27.92 percent to 59.35 billion shares, up from 46.39 billion shares a week earlier.
Market activity was further reflected in transaction frequency, with the average number of daily trades rising 20.16 percent to 3.2 million transactions, compared with 2.66 million transactions in the prior week.
Foreign investors booked a net buy of Rp 282.27 billion on Friday, though they remain net sellers on a year-to-date basis, with cumulative net outflows of Rp 25.67 trillion in 2025.
Beyond equities, Indonesia’s capital market has continued to see strong issuance in debt instruments. According to IDX data, a total of 173 bond and sukuk issuances from 79 issuers were listed in 2025, with a combined value of Rp 204.55 trillion.
Overall, the exchange now hosts 660 outstanding bond and sukuk issuances worth Rp 540.2 trillion and $134.01 million, issued by 137 entities. Government bonds listed on the IDX comprise 191 series with a nominal value of Rp 6,423.8 trillion and $352.1 million.
In addition, seven asset-backed securities (EBA) issuances totaling Rp 2.13 trillion are currently listed on the exchange, underscoring the growing depth and diversification of Indonesia’s capital market.
