Jakarta Stocks Rally Early on Ceasefire Buzz, Tracks Wall Street Highs
Jakarta. Indonesia’s benchmark stock index opened firmly higher on Thursday, tracking Wall Street’s record rally as investors bet the US-Iran conflict is nearing a ceasefire.
Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rose 0.52%, or 40 points, to 7,663 at the open, moving within a range of 7,663–7,694 in early trade.
Within the first two minutes, volume reached 1.8 billion shares with turnover of Rp 829 billion ($48.4 million) across more than 139,000 transactions. Gainers outpaced decliners 357 to 124, while 202 stocks were unchanged.
Global sentiment improved on expectations that tensions between the United States and Iran are easing. US President Donald Trump said the war is “very close to over,” adding that the chances of reaching a permanent ceasefire before month-end are high.
