Jakarta Stock Index Opens Higher at 8,322 as Investors Eye Q3 Earnings, Fed Policy Shift
Jakarta. Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened higher on Monday, tracking gains across global markets after US inflation data strengthened expectations for more interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.
The benchmark index rose 51 points, or 0.61 percent, to open at 8,322, trading in a range of 8,321–8,354.
Market volume reached 1.7 billion shares with a turnover of Rp 1.1 trillion ($66.2 million) across 123,000 transactions. A total of 326 stocks advanced, 139 declined, and 198 were unchanged.
Investor sentiment this week remains focused on two key catalysts, the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision and the release of Indonesia’s Q3 2025 corporate earnings, both of which are expected to set the tone for market movements.
US stocks closed at record highs on Friday after inflation data came in slightly below expectations, fueling optimism that the Fed will continue its rate-cutting path. The S&P 500 climbed 0.8 percent, surpassing its previous all-time high, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 472 points, or 1 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 1.1 percent.
“Right now, Fed officials are more concerned about the labor market than inflation,” said Brian Jacobsen, chief economist at Annex Wealth Management. “Without any evidence to the contrary, there’s nothing to really change their minds about cutting.”
Asian equities mirrored Wall Street’s strength, with Japan’s Nikkei up 1.2 percent, South Korea’s KOSPI 1.4 percent higher, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rising 1.2 percent, and China’s Shanghai Composite adding 0.47 percent.
Meanwhile, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) is closely monitoring Unusual Market Activity (UMA) in the shares of Cipta Perdana Lancar (PART) and MNC Digital Entertainment (MSIN), both of which showed irregular price movements.
PART has surged 9.17 percent in the past month and 27.96 percent year-to-date, while MSIN has dropped 8.04 percent in the same period and declined 38.69 percent so far this year. The bourse urged investors to review company disclosures and corporate action plans carefully before making investment decisions.
