Jakarta. Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened sharply higher on Monday, jumping 43.94 points (0.52 percent) to 8,458. The benchmark traded in the 8,454–8,466 range in early minutes.

About 1.91 billion shares worth Rp 764.36 billion ($45.74 million) changed hands across 83,704 transactions. A total of 289 stocks advanced, 139 declined, and 224 were unchanged.

Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas said global sentiment remains cautious as markets await the US Supreme Court’s ruling on Donald Trump’s tariff authority, which could force changes to existing tariffs under Sections 301, 122, and 232. The uncertainty raises the risk of policy disruption if current frameworks must be reworked.

The brokerage noted that this week’s data releases, from US housing, retail sales, PPI, consumer confidence, Europe’s confidence indicators, and Japan’s Tokyo CPI, may guide near-term risk appetite. China’s incoming data, meanwhile, is expected to have limited impact on volatility.

Pilarmas also pointed to Bank Indonesia’s report showing Rp 2.29 trillion in foreign inflows during the third week of November, mainly into equities and SBN, while foreigners sold Rp 4.30 trillion of the central bank’s short-term rupiah securities (SRBI). Indonesia’s five-year CDS climbed to 75.27 bps, signaling higher perceived sovereign risk.

Pilarmas said the inflow may give the JCI short-term support, but gains could be capped as risk premiums rise and year-to-date foreign outflows remain large.

Global cues were mixed but tilted positive. The US market closed higher on Friday after another volatile session.

The S&P 500 rose 1 percent to 6,602, the Dow Jones added 493.15 points (1.1 percent) to 46,245, and the Nasdaq gained 0.9 percent to 22,273. Markets strengthened following comments from New York Fed President John Williams, who signaled “room for a further adjustment” to interest rates, a hint at possible easing in December.

Across Asia, South Korea’s KOSPI climbed 1.5 percent to 3,915. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 232 points (0.91 percent) to 25,452, while Shanghai’s SSE added 14 points (0.36 percent) to 3,848 before slipping into the red.

Japan’s Nikkei was closed for Labor Thanksgiving Day.

Back in Jakarta, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) placed Suryamas Dutamakmur (SMDM) under Unusual Market Activity (UMA) monitoring after the stock surged 47.37 percent over one month and 140 percent year-to-date. IDX urged investors to pay attention to the company’s responses and disclosures.

IDX also disclosed new trading suspensions: Pudjiadi Prestige (PUDP), up 44.97 percent in a month and 480.51 percent year-to-date, and Trimitra Prawara Goldland (ATAP), which jumped 92.39 percent in a month and 608 percent year-to-date.

Meanwhile, the bourse lifted the suspension on Singaraja Putra (SINI), allowing the stock to resume trading on both the regular and cash markets starting Monday’s first session.
