Cikarang, West Java. Indonesia’s largest rooftop solar power installation officially began operations at an industrial complex in Cikarang on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in the country’s industrial clean energy transition.

The 22.5 megawatt-peak (MWp) installation was built at the Mulia Industrindo industrial complex and consists of 36,862 solar panels covering 122,783 square meters -- equivalent to around 17 times the size of Bung Karno Stadium.

The project was developed through a partnership between Mulia Industrindo and Xurya Daya Indonesia.

Mulia Industrindo Director Ekman Tjandranegara said the project represents a strategic step by the company to strengthen sustainable operations while maintaining production quality and continuity.

“With a capacity of 22.5 MW, this project underscores our commitment to advancing the company’s sustainability agenda through large-scale solar energy use in the industrial sector,” Ekman said in Cikarang.

He added that as a manufacturing company operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, a reliable and stable power supply is essential. The rooftop solar system was therefore designed to connect directly to production processes without disrupting factory operations.

Operationally, the system is capable of generating an average of 68,500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per day to support round-the-clock manufacturing needs.

Significant Environmental Impact
Beyond energy efficiency, the project is expected to reduce more than 26.8 million kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

According to the company, that is equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of 198,258 trees and a reduction in coal dependence of around 20,000 kilograms per year.

Ekman said solar adoption also forms part of the industrial sector’s contribution to Indonesia’s broader national energy transition.

Eka Himawan, Management Director of Xurya, said the inauguration marks an important milestone for solar energy development in Indonesia’s industrial sector.

“The Mulia project proves that factories operating nonstop can still adopt solar energy without disrupting production processes,” Eka said.

The solar project received support from the Industry Ministry, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, and state utility PLN.

Xurya has now developed more than 300 solar power projects with a total installed module capacity approaching 200 MW.

Yondri Zulfadli, Vice President of Sales Management at PLN, said that as of March 2026, PLN had served 11,840 solar power customers with an installed module capacity of 861.14 MWp and an inverter capacity of 768.3 MW.
