Jakarta. A total of 18 flights to and from the Middle East were canceled at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport as of Sunday afternoon, as regional air traffic was disrupted by the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

The cancellations — comprising nine departures and nine arrivals — affected scheduled services linking Indonesia’s main international gateway with key Middle Eastern destinations.

In total, 40 Middle East-bound and inbound flights had been scheduled for Sunday, including 20 arrivals, 19 departures, and one charter service. By late afternoon, airport authorities had recorded 18 cancellations, according to airport spokesperson Aziz Fahmi Harahap.

“Until this afternoon, we have recorded 18 planned flights that have been canceled, consisting of nine departures and nine arrivals,” Aziz said.

Airlines impacted by the cancellations include Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Saudi Arabian Airlines. The affected routes include services to and from Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.

Airport management said it continues to coordinate with airlines and relevant authorities to monitor developments and determine how long the cancellations may persist.

“We are ensuring that all service users who have arrived at Soekarno-Hatta are properly assisted. Airlines have informed passengers and offered options including rerouting, refunds, or rescheduling, although replacement departure times are still pending confirmation,” Aziz explained.

He added that overall operations at Soekarno-Hatta remain normal, safe, and smooth despite the disruptions. Airport management is continuing to coordinate with stakeholders to ensure passenger services remain optimal.

Meanwhile in Bali, five Middle East-bound flights have been cancelled, affecting 1,631 passengers, according to reports from Ngurah Rai Airport.

The affected flights included:
1. Etihad Airways EY477 to Abu Dhabi
2. Emirates EK369 to Dubai
3. Qatar Airways QR963 to Doha
4. Emirates EK399 to Dubai
5. Qatar Airways QR961 to Doha.
