Indonesia Rallies Stakeholders for Clean Energy Future at National Energy and Mineral Festival
Jakarta. Indonesia launched a major two-day Energy and Mineral Festival on Wednesday in Jakarta, bringing together stakeholders across the energy spectrum to chart the nation’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
Organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in collaboration with leading media company B-Universe Media Holdings, the event serves not just as a platform for dialogue, but also as a venue to exchange innovations, share experiences, and foster investment commitments in the energy and mineral sectors.
“The Energy and Mineral Festival 2025 is a key event uniting interests from across the spectrum -- energy, minerals, coal, oil, and gas,” said organizing committee chairman Djaka Susila.
The forum gathers a diverse mix of participants, including business leaders, academics, industry associations, civil society groups, lawmakers, and policymakers. President Prabowo Subianto is expected to deliver a keynote address Wednesday evening.
Key sessions on the first day focus on boosting domestic oil and gas production to ensure long-term energy security, the role of carbon trading markets in supporting Indonesia’s clean energy transition, the establishment of dedicated institutions for certifying renewable energy usage, and the integration of artificial intelligence to improve safety and productivity in the mining sector.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia is scheduled to present a strategic roadmap outlining Indonesia’s path toward sustainable energy and mineral governance, in line with its national net-zero targets and the broader shift to renewables.
On the second day, the festival will explore Indonesia’s progress in renewable energy adoption and initiatives to make coal use more environmentally responsible.
Equitable energy access is also on the agenda, with discussions centered on the government’s ambition to bring household electricity to every village in the country, including those in remote island regions.
A special session targeting younger generations will address the rise of “green jobs” emerging from the global shift toward renewable energy, while the festival will close with discussions on unavoidable measures for nationwide energy efficiency.
The festival will also recognize individuals and institutions -- ranging from business leaders to academics -- who have made significant contributions to renewable energy advancement or have adopted environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles in their operations.
In the lead-up to the event, a youth dialogue was held last week featuring energetic exchanges between students, energy policymakers, and industry leaders, focusing on clean energy innovation and environmental conservation.
The Energy and Mineral Festival is being held at Hutan Kota Plataran, a green space in the Senayan area of Jakarta.
