Indonesia Aims for $17.5 Billion Transactions in Trade Expo
Jakarta. The government-run Trade Expo Indonesia is seeking to amass at least $17.5 billion in transactions, exceeding last year’s previous target.
Every year, the Trade Ministry hosts an annual international exhibition in a bid to spur the country’s export performance. The government is also betting on this expo to link small businesses with global markets.
“In 2025, we were aiming for $16.5 billion, but we managed to record $22.8 billion in transactions. So we want to hike the target by around 6% to $17.5 billion, but fingers crossed we can surpass that goal,” Trade Minister Budi Santoso told a briefing in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The ministry data showed that about $474.7 million of the transactions in the 2025 Trade Expo Indonesia had come from micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises. Buyers from 130 countries had signed up to the exhibition. Indonesian products were most popular among Indian buyers, accounting for $4.3 billion in transactions. Followed by the Netherlands at $3.9 billion, Vietnam ($3.3 billion), the Philippines ($3.1 billion), and China ($2.4 billion).
The Trade Expo Indonesia is set to take place in the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD on Oct. 14-18.
Indonesia reported that its goods export totaled $282.9 billion throughout 2025. Goods exports are estimated to fall between $298 billion and $302.6 billion this year.
"Exports should not only be limited to the enterprises from major cities, but also the cooperatives in rural areas. Small enterprises should export their products, not just the big companies," Budi said.
